Vehicle Safety Article: Autos are safer than ever.

Fire Dept News

http://autos.aol.com/article/crash-1959-chevy

"...On September 9, 2009, the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety destroyed a perfectly good 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air. This wanton dispatching of a perfectly good 50-year-old Chevy dismayed lovers of vintage cars, but it did add a “Thank God” to the old saying, “They just don’t build them like they used to.”

Fire Dept News

The Danville Volunteer Fire Department recently responded with Ladder 199 to the commercial building fire in Bob White, West Virginia. This mutual aid call was to assist Stations 600 & 700 with Ladder Ops. The building contained a retail store and a United States Post Office. The departments were able to contain the blaze and prevent important mail, including Social Security checks, from being destroyed by the fire.

DVFD Auxiliary

Fire Dept NewsThe Danville Volunteer Fire Department is pleased to announce the addition of the DVFD Auxiliary. This endeavor, a project brought to the table at last night's meeting by Amanda Cregger, seeks to assist the fire department with fund raisers, membership drives and rehab after extended time responses by the department.

The auxiliary will not be involved in active-duty fire service operations.

The first meeting of the Auxiliary is set for Thursday, June 4th 2009 @7pm. If you're interested or know someone that may be interested in participating, please let them know. Everyone is welcome to come out and help get it started!

A big "thank you!" goes out to Amanda for getting the ball rolling on this project. I hope everyone can lend a hand and get this project going.
