As many of you know, during the General Election in November 2008, you'll find on your ballots a place for the Boone County Fire Levy. For those of you that don't know what the fire levy is; the fire levy funds your Boone County Volunteer Fire Departments that protect your community. This levy helps fire departments pay for much needed training, new equipment, replacement equipment, fire prevention training for school kids, and pays the monthly utility bills to keep the doors on the fire departments open. The fire levy DOES NOT raise your taxes, the funds simply come from the excess taxes that the county receives, the same tax dollars that pay for local law enforcement, school teachers, health care providers, and ambulances. This levy is VERY important and we ask that you continue to support the volunteer fire departments here in Boone County by voting YES for the 2008 Boone County Fire Levy!
